December 29, 2016 – First15 Sport Performance is proud to announce two additions to their professional network dedicated to providing quality sport and performance experiences. Danielle Ordway and Brittany O’Dell, who many may recognize from appearances with Davenport University at several USA Rugby Collegiate Women’s Rugby National Championships, are participating in First15 Sport Performance’s inaugural Sport and Performance Internship. As interns, they will be gaining critical work skills, hands-on professional development experiences, and developing an extensive professional network, all while earning college credits. First15 Sport Performance, LLC is dedicated to assisting individuals in achieving independent visions of success, and this internship program exemplifies this mission by creating opportunities to enhance personal and professional growth for young professionals. First15 will benefit from their existing sports management expertise in relation to program development, event management, and high-performance and grass roots learning experiences.
“We are thrilled to offer this internship program, and could not ask for better individuals than Dani and Brittany to lead the way forward for this important professional development initiative. They are bringing exceptional experience and energy as we work to develop new programs moving forward. They have hit the ground running by playing an active role in developing an exciting initiative that we are looking forward to launching in the new year,” said Director of Performance, Katie Wurst.
Both individuals have extensive experience in high-pressure situations through competition and management of teams and events. Ms. Ordway is a current Sports Management undergraduate preparing to transition into a graduate degree program. She has invaluable experience working for the Assistant Athletic Director’s office at Davenport University, and has represented USA Rugby multiple times as an athlete with the USA Rugby Women’s Collegiate All-Americans. Ms. Ordway is also the co-founder of the Grand Rapids Gazelles, which has created a pipeline for women’s rugby players to continue competing after college in the state of Michigan. Brittany O’Dell currently serves the Davenport University women's rugby program as an assistant coach. Ms. O’Dell is a recent business degree graduate with an emphasis in Sport Management. During her undergraduate career at Davenport University, she gained experience as a member of the Event Operations Staff, and working with the Sport Management Academic Department. She is another co-founder of the Grand Rapids Gazelles, where she serves as club president, coach, and field captain.
Recently, both women represented Davenport University and were crowned USA Rugby Women’s Fall Collegiate Champions for the second consecutive year to close out their 2016 season. Ms. Ordway and Ms. O’Dell will be transferring their high-level of sport participation knowledge to enhance First15’s ability to deliver programming designed to assist athletes, coaches, referees, and administrators in enhancing performance. Taking on the responsibilities of an internship provides many options to experience challenges and learning opportunities in a professional environment, as well as create a legacy for others to gain professional development.
