Katherine M. Wurst, M.A., CC-AASP

Katherine Wurst, MA, CC-AASP is a certified sport performance consultant who specializes in applied sport and performance psychology training in a varied domain of sport-specific practice.  She is a certified consultant for the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), an experienced sports management professional, and has extensive professional credentials in academic and applied Kinesiology settings.  Her current role within First15 Sport Performance is Director of Performance and she is an original co-founder of the company.

Ms. Wurst is located in Charlotte, NC and earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Science (B.S.) from the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse with an emphasis on sport management, strength and conditioning, and sport coaching.  She went on to earn her MA in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of Minnesota.  She also completed a minor in prevention science aimed at increasing physical activity in youth populations. She served as an affiliated scholar with the Tucker Center for Research on Girls and Women in Sports, coached competitive collegiate women’s rugby, and taught coaching courses in all regions of the country as an active USA Rugby coach educator.  She is currently enrolled in a Kinesiology Doctorate of Education distance learning program at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

She has participated in NCAA collegiate basketball, soccer, and softball prior to competing as a collegiate All-American rugby player.  She competed in Women’s Premier League national competition as a member of the Twin Cities Amazons and Glendale Rugby Clubs and is a current member of the Charlotte Women’s Rugby Club.  She has coached at the collegiate level for the University of Colorado, University of Minnesota, Elon University, and the University of South Carolina.  She also delivers mental skills training and serves in management and coaching roles for USA Rugby’s high performance programs.
